“cnooc guanlan” was completed and set sail

date:2023-03-28

on march 26, china's first deep-sea floating wind power turbine platform, guanlan, epci general contracted by offshore oil engineering co., ltd (hereinafter referred to as “cooec”), was completed in zhuhai city, guangdong province, and will be installed in the offshore near wenchang, hainan province.

guanlan has an installed capacity of 7.25 mw, an overall height of more than 200 meters and a total draft weight of 11,000 tons. the bottom triangular floating foundation consists of three side columns and one middle column. the overall side length is nearly 90 meters, the height is about 35 meters, and the weight is 4,000 tons. the fan column is about 83 meters high, the engine room weighs 260 tons, the impeller diameter is 158 meters, and the swept area is nearly 20,000 square meters. three large blades drive the generator to rotate, generating a continuous flow of green power.

guanlan is china's first floating wind power turbine platform with a working sea area of more than 100 kilometers from the coastline and a water depth of more than 100 meters. it is also the world's first semi-submersible deep-sea wind power turbine platform that supplies power to offshore oil and gas fields and has the worst marine environment, which poses a huge challenge to the platform design. through technological innovations such as optimizing the platform scale and adding efficient damping structures, cooec project team has made the floating platform capable of resisting the maximum 17-level super typhoon. the tilt angle is only about 10 degrees in extreme environment, and it can ensure the safety of the wind turbine at a wind speed of 84 meters/second.

after the guanlan is put into operation, the annual power generation of the wind turbine can reach 22 million kilowatt hours. through the dynamic submarine cable, it can save nearly 10 million cubic meters of natural gas and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 22,000 tons per year.

in recent years, cooec has successively delivered a number of international large-scale clean energy projects such as yamal lng and canadian lng, and successfully implemented china's first demonstration project of over one million tons of carbon dioxide reinjection and storage, large-scale offshore shore power application projects and a number of offshore wind power projects. the market share of china's lng projects is nearly 50%, and the general contracting management and construction technology capabilities of clean energy projects have been significantly improved.
